My Bonsai Calendar

 This is by no means an accurate calendar for the bonsai enthusiast. This is something of a note to remind me when is the best time for me to do a particular activity to a particular. This calendar will always be evolving as learn more and gain more experience in the art of bonsai.

  • Early spring when buds start to grow is best time for a trunk chop for Dawn Redwood.

April

May

  • Take softwood cuttings from current years growth.

June

July

November

  • Start bringing in tropical trees at night and set them out during the day in sunlight when temps are above 50 F (10C). 

December

  • Best time to take cuttings from hardwood is mid-autumn to late winter, just after leaf fall and before growth starts in spring.
